Martin + Delaine’s Wedding

It was mid-November and Martin and Delaine’s wedding was slated to start at 12 pm. I knew I had to start my day pretty early so I ensured everything that I needed was ready and packed the night before. I don’t think a wedding photographer can ever pack enough extra batteries (especially a Fujifilm wedding photographer).

Wedding Prep

Shortly after I was dressed, I grabbed some fuel (coffee) and I was on my way to the bridal prep location.  It was a beautiful air bnb with stunning views of Lake Cunningham and the Bahamar Resort in the western part of Nassau, Bahamas. Not only did it have stunning views, it also had gorgeous natural light that I could not wait to take advantage of.

Following a quick assessment of the space, I started gathering items for my flatlay shots. There was a huge window I thought would be perfect for capturing photos of the dress. Once I was done with all the detail shots, I moved on to taking some candid shots of everyone.

My second shooter was capturing groom prep, so after I was done with bridal prep, I was on my way to the ceremony and reception location.

The Ceremony

It was a relatively quick drive to Charlottesville, also in the western part of Nassau. I got all my detail shots and waited for the ceremony to begin. What I loved was that it was an unplugged ceremony, so I didn’t have to compete with camera phones to get the perfect shot.

The sky was a bit overcast but it was a relatively sunny day. There was some dappled lighting as the trees were not completely lush. I had to find even light and embrace the dapple light in some instances. I got some great bridal portrait shots and I was really happy with the outcome. Sometimes the best thing you can do is to let go and embrace.

The Reception

It was a short walk to the reception area. Everyone was so jovial; you could truly feel the warmth in the room. Delaine did get a bit teary eye when her two best friends did a joint toast to her. It was a really touching moment. After the sentimental moments were done, an evening of laughter and dancing topped off the day.

As a documentary style photographer, I focus on capturing moments and raw emotions and less on posing. Take a look at some of my favorite moments from Martin and Delaine’s wedding.

My experience with J. Michael Imagery was nothing short of amazing. Sean Johnson is a brilliant photographer who captures images that are authentic, natural, and classy. He focuses on capturing the lasting moments that become forever memories. He is very professional, responsive, and delivers top quality images. Images are also delivered in a very TIMELY manner!

My husband and I were very pleased with both our engagement and wedding images. Sean has a way of making the photo shoots feel more natural rather than staged and we were very comfortable working with him. We could not have chosen a better photographer to capture the moments of our special day! We cannot wait to work with Sean again in the very near future!
